What is the meaning behind "My Moment to Unwind?"
The definition of unwind (Merriam Webster)
to cause to uncoil: wind off : UNFOLD
to be free from or as if from binding or wrapping
to trace to the end
to undo
to release from tension: RELAX
I know I have had times in my life where I had become wound so tightly I could barely breathe. That is not a good feeling, but the process of life produces circumstances where this is fairly inevitable at one time or another. I think it is possible get stuck in this binding and to feel trapped, cramped and breathless. I also believe there are things that can be done to reduce the risk of getting "stuck in a bind" and to improve and expedite outcomes when life gets hard. I believe it is possible for anyone to relax, unfold and to be free from (mental) binding.
I say "my moment" because I want it to be personal and individual. MY moment! And when you read it, it's YOUR moment. What do you do to unwind? Whatever you do may not be what others do. What works for your neighbor, friend, boss, mother, sister or anyone else may not work for you.
I also like it because one day I was making a mental list of the things I do to unwind and one of them that came to mind was, "I go to therapy." Yes! Some therapists go to therapy! I am human and I have dealt with loss, adjustment and situations in my life where I needed to process in a way that I could not do with anyone but a therapist. Also, one recommendation in my graduate program was to "go to therapy." I did then too. I know there is a stigma attached to the phrase "I go to therapy." But, I would like that to change.
